EnquirIes Food For Thought From The Animal Whisperer Rosi Caswell
As all living things have an Energy body, and the Universal form of communication is in the Energy,
why would we think it strange that we can communicate with them, or assume that we cannot?
Let Me Tell You A "Secret"
Animal Actors Animals are some of the best actors you will ever meet; they “Play The Ham” to perfection, with no malice aforethought, only the wish to be amusing, and perhaps, (tongue in cheek), God forbid, serve their own interests! For example, and I can see many of you beginning to smile wryly as this scenario unfolds, that of the horse who having been lame and received the ensuing attention, decides he likes that status, and for sometimes, many months after the initial injury, will “play on” the past, pretending he is still in pain from the previous time, and will in effect, re-enact the scenario, by limping as he did when first injured; this of course is in the hope that he will receive the attention he enjoyed, along with perhaps not having to work! (This is until somebody rumbles him!) It is always worth a try though, to see how far you can push it! I remember well the antics of one of the nicest horses I have ever known; he was a large 16.3hh National Hunt Thoroughbred, who resided at a major teaching yard in the UK; his agenda was hilarious in the extreme, for he used to “test” the students on the yard, to check out their knowledge of psychology and beyond; this is how it went:- A given student might be asked to groom, rug up, or clip him, to demonstrate his or her learned skills, for he was considered the best mannered, obliging horse on the yard, and therefore ideal for students to, respectfully, practice on. The reality was somewhat different, for this calm, obliging equine, when approached by a “rookie” student, would suddenly develop the most amazing twitches and itches, preventing said student from grooming him, or undertaking any given task, designed to show their abilities and skills; these sessions usually culminated in the frustrated student leaving this horse’s stable, and relating to a senior instructor, just why they could not groom, rug up, or clip Leyton, (as he was known), for he was “far too itchy”, and would not stand still for them, or move over in the stable on request, seeming not to hear their requests, and pulling faces by tilting his head and crossing his jaw each way in turn, in an apparent “agony of itches and twitches”; all of these antics were undertaken in the most genteel way, for he was indeed a perfect gentleman. When the senior instructor approached Leyton’s stable with the rather abashed student in tow, and spoke his name in laughing exasperation, he would turn wide-eyed and say, “what?”; upon receiving the answer from the instructor, he would smile and say, “ok- rumbled, but it sorts out the wheat from the chaff, don’t you think?”, then proceeded to stand absolutely still, without any itches or twitches, whilst the hapless student demonstrated their ability under the watchful eye of the instructor; he taught those students more than any human could ever have done; he was truly a legend in his own lifetime! There are so many examples of animal acting I could relate to you, but there would not be the time for me to write it, and you to read it! The following example speaks totally for itself however, bearing out entirely the words of P.G. Woodhouse, “Never let a dog know he has been clever, for if you do, he will play “The Ham” forever.” A truer word has never been spoken!
The Canine “Ham”
There’s a mighty storm raging overhead,
And my old dog she raises her head.
As I rush down the stairs in anticipation,
Of her fear and panic and trepidation.
I walk into the kitchen so calm and quiet,
Fully expecting her to raise a riot.
But she coolly turns and looks at me,
And I cannot believe what my own eyes see.
Instead of a dog trembling in fright,,
Against all past history she seems alright!
So I heave a sigh of quiet relief
And wend my way back upstairs to sleep.
But hark, I reach the top of the stairs,
And I hear a scrape, a moving of chairs.
Oh no! I think, she’s scared after all
And I tumble downwards into the hall.
I tiptoe into the kitchen bright,
( where I’d felt compelled to leave a light. )
To find her sitting upon the side,
As if frantically seeking a place to hide.
That’s strange, I thought, you were fine just now,
And I link my mind with hers to see how
She was not afraid before I came down.
Could she be acting the canine clown?
I spoke to her with a word( quite ) stern
And told her I knew that she could discern,
Whether danger was real or just in the mind.
She stared unblinking, though far from “blind”
The meaning behind my eyes she knew,
So she walked back into her bed of blue.
And as I left for the second time,
She raised her eyes and winked into mine.
Giving me food for thought ( yet again ),
At how amusing and whimsical her powerful “game”.
For as the famous author had been heard to say,
“Show you’re amused, and the dog will play,
On the stage of life, to turn one’s head.”
“How true” I smiled, as I turned for bed.
The qualities required to act, are present in every animal, bird, fish and reptiles; they are enormously underestimated by many people, to their cost, in the nicest possible way. Take some time to study, not only a variety of domestic animals, but those in the wild, and not only in Britain; you will see with increasing clarity, the same awareness and ability in them all, and the penchant to act and play “The Ham”, in numerous ways, for a variety of reasons. If you were disposed to write a journal on your studies and findings, looking back after some six months or so, you will be astounded at how the acting “bug” grips all animals, and the different ways in which they utilize it. |
